Ingredients

200g Snowflake Cake Wheat Flour

100g unsalted butter, cold and diced

1/2 teaspoons Salt

4-5 tablespoons cold water

Method

    1. Prepare the Dough:

  • In a large mixing bowl, sift the Snowflake Cake Wheat Flour and salt together.
  • Add the cold, diced butter to the flour mixture.
  • Using your fingertips, rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

  • 2. Form the Dough:

  • Gradually add the cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing lightly with a fork or your hands until the mixture comes together to form a dough. Be careful not to overwork the dough.
  • Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in cling film, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill.

  • 3. Roll Out and Shape:

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) or gas mark 4.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 3-5mm thickness.
  • Carefully transfer the rolled out dough to a tart tin or pie dish, pressing it gently into the base and sides. Trim off any excess dough hanging over the edges.

  • 4. Bake the Tart Shell:

  • Prick the base of the dough with a fork to prevent it from puffing up during baking.
  • Line the dough with parchment paper and fill with baking beans or rice to weigh it down.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the edges are lightly golden brown.

  • 5. Cool and Use:

  • Remove the parchment paper and baking beans/rice from the tart shell.
  • Allow the tart shell to cool completely in the tin before filling with your desired savoury filling.
