Preparation Time: 5 minutes | Cook Time: 18 minutes

Ingredients

For the Cupcakes:

500g Snowflake Creations Vanilla Flavoured Cake Mix

20 large cupcake holders

3 extra large eggs

100ml cooking oil

250ml milk

For the Orange Frosting:

150g butter/baking margarine, softened

300g vanilla flavoured icing mix

30ml milk

Orange food colouring (gel or paste), to achieve desired shade

Method

    For the Cupcakes:

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, oil, and milk until they form a light creamy mixture.
  • Add the vanilla flavoured cake mix and stir by hand until smooth and well combined. Be careful not to over mix.
  • Place paper cupcake holders into the cupcake tins and fill each about half full with the batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely on a wire rack before icing.

  • For the Orange Frosting:

  • In a clean mixing bowl, beat the softened butter or baking margarine with an electric mixer on high speed for about 1 minute until creamy.
  • Gradually add the vanilla flavoured icing mix to the butter while beating on low speed. Continue until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  • Add the milk to the mixture and beat on high speed for about 2 minutes until the icing becomes creamy and smooth.
  • Now, add orange food colouring gel or paste a little at a time, mixing well after each addition, until you achieve the desired shade of orange for your Halloween theme.
  • Adjust the consistency with more milk if needed.
  • Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, use a piping bag or a butter knife to generously ice each cupcake with the orange icing in your favourite pattern.

  • For the Cupcakes:

  • To add an extra spooky touch to your cupcakes, print out Halloween-themed cutouts such as ghosts, spiders, or pumpkins on sturdy paper. Cut them out and attach each cutout to a toothpick using tape or glue. Insert these decorations into the frosted cupcakes just before serving to create a fun and festive Halloween display.
