Black Forest trifle won't keep you in the kitchen for long but will impress guests at your next get-together.

Ingredients

425g can black pitted cherries, drained

750ml prepared vanilla custard

375ml - 500 ml fresh cream, whipped

100g dark chocolate, grated for decorating

1  chocolate sponge cake or Snowflake Creations Brownies

Method

  • Cut sponge or Brownies into 7 cm cubes.
  • Layer half the sponge cubes into base of a large dish or individual ramekins. Sprinkle with liqueur.
  • Layer half the cherries on top of sponge. Cover with half the custard and half the whipped cream.
  • Repeat sponge, fruit and custard layer.
  • Top with remaining whipped cream and decorate with grated chocolate.
