Butterscotch sauce

Cook Time: 10 - 15 minutes

Serves: Makes about 500 ml

When was the last time you tasted authentic butterscotch? A classic butterscotch sauce recipe with brown sugar, butter, and cream to be served with baked puddings.

Ingredients

45ml butter or margarine

250ml fresh cream

45ml golden syrup

200ml (160 g) sugar

5ml fresh lemon essence

Method

  • Place all ingredients in a small, heavy-based saucepan and slowly bring to the boil. Simmer and reduce until mixture has a thick consistency. Serve warm.
