Fruit cobbler

 



Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 40 minutes

Serves: Serves 4 - 6

A batter covered fruit dish - great for a dessert after dinner on any week day evening.

Ingredients

820g can guava halves

50g butter or margarine, softened

60ml (50 g) sugar

2ml vanilla essence

125ml (70 g) Snowflake cake flour

3ml baking powder

1ml salt

80ml milk

1  extra-large egg

Method

  • Spoon guavas with syrup into a medium, greased ovenproof dish.
  • Cream butter and sugar together. Add egg and essence and beat well until light and creamy.
  • Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and add, alternately with milk, to butter mixture. Spoon mixture over fruit.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 40 minutes. Serve with custard or fresh cream.
