Gooey chocolate brownies

 



Preparation Time: 20 Minutes

Cook Time: 40-45 Minutes

Serves: Makes about 20

A great idea for your child's birthday party or just as a cheat snack.

Ingredients

200g butter or margarine

500g dark chocolate, coarsely chopped

250ml (210 g) castor sugar

5ml vanilla essence

125ml (70 g) Snowflake self-raising flour

2ml salt

3  extra-large eggs

Method

  • Melt butter and half the chocolate together in a microwave. Take out every 20 seconds and stir until completely melted. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • Beat eggs and sugar together until light and creamy. Add essence. Gradually beat in melted chocolate mixture.
  • Sift flour and salt together and add to chocolate mixture with remaining chopped chocolate. Mix well.
  • Spoon mixture into a greased roasting pan of 23 x 29 cm. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 40 - 45 minutes. Leave to cool in pan and cut into squares. Dust with icing sugar before serving, if preferred.
