Potato and cheese rostis

 



Preparation Time: 3 Minutes

Cook Time: 5 Minutes

Serves: Makes about 12

The combination of the cheese and potato will win your guests over.

Ingredients

125ml (70 g) Snowflake brown bread flour

1ml paprika

1  large potato, peeled and coarsely grated

125ml (50 g) grated cheddar cheese

15ml chopped fresh mixed herbs or 5 ml dried

Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

1  extra-large egg, beaten

Cooking oil for shallow frying

Method

  • Combine flour and paprika in a bowl. Add potato, cheese, herbs and seasoning. Mix lightly.
  • Add beaten egg and mix lightly until combined.
  • Heat oil in a large, heavy-based frying an. Place heaped tablespoonsful of mixture into hot oil. Fry on both sides until golden brown. Remove from oil and drain on paper towel. Serve warm.
