This follows the same recipe as our white bread recipe.
Ingredients
1kg Snowflake white bread flour
10ml salt
30ml butter or margarine
10ml sugar
10g (1 sachet) instant dry yeast
650ml lukewarm water
Method
- Sift flour and salt together. Rub in butter with fingertips until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add sugar, mix and add yeast.
- Gradually add enough lukewarm water to mix to a soft dough. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 - 10 minutes, or until dough is smooth and elastic. Place dough in a large, lightly oiled bowl, cover and leave to rise in a warm place for about 20 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- After first rising, knock down and divide into 12 pieces. Roll each piece into a finger shape and press around 12 skewers.
- Bake over cool coals until done. Remove skewers and fill holes with butter and syrup.
